Automation

  • Automation is becoming the cornerstone of the residential connected home. To say that an automated home is the home of the future is no longer appropriate.

  • An Automated home is the home of today. A home with the security setting telling your HVAC system and your lighting system what to do.

  • If your home, set the temperature to your comfort level. If your away, turn the lights off. If it is nighttime, turn the outside security lights on.

  • If your Security alarm goes off, turn on all lights and call you if your not home once the central station is notified. If your Smoke detector goes off, turn off the A/C and fans so it won’t spread smoke and fire. All these things happen without a thought to them.

  • And these are things we should all have in our homes for the protection of our famlies. These are not things we do without once we understand what they do for us.

  • An Automation system, first and foremost, is a system that monitors your home and reacts to different situations with appropriate action.

One of the most misunderstood systems in a home is the Automation system. An automation system is designed around security, energy efficiency and convenience based on your lifestyle. The system will use sensors, security settings and triggers to control devices throughout the home with no user interaction.

Temperature control, Pool and Spa control, and Lighting control are often controlled by   Time of day, or triggered on or off based on sensors that tell the system if they are being used. There is no reason to cool the upstairs all day if the area is not used. So we modify       the temperature based on motion. Lights are shut off when no one is home during the day  and turn on at dusk. Pool and Spa controls are modified based on the normal useage times. There is no sense in heating the spa during the periods of the day when it won’t be used.

But Automation Controllers are intelligent and have several interfaces to modify the homes’ behavior with the touch of a few buttons. Touch Screens add an elegant look and feel to the home. Computers, TV’s and even cell phones can be set up as control points. From these interfaces you can easily change the temperature, turn on music, set lighting scenes, and see cameras. You can also check status to let you know when the kids are in bed, or who is at the door or gate. And you can do this even when you are away from home.

It also offers many type of control points such as phones from in our out of the home, from a keypad or touchscreen, and from the TV with Media Center and from the internet.
You can add scene control to set your lighting for the moment like movie time, go to bed, or partytime form the touch of one button.

Now you can control multiple sources of Audio throughout your home with the right tune for the mood. There is Jazz in the Parlor, Hip Hop in the game room and Reggae on the pool deck,
happening all at the same time. And, as always, one touch changes any of them or all of them.
One of the misunderstandings about an automated home is that it is hard to control or what if it breaks. An automated system, like the one we sell, is simply getting many systems in your home to communicate with each other and then getting them to react to different events such as day, night, home or away. There is a control unit, or the Brain, and there are devices that speak the same language.

But none of these devices look or act any different than standard devices. A thermostat has the same buttons and can be adjusted like any other. The light switches can always be turned on or off just by touching them.

The only difference is that they can also send and receive messages from the main control unit to change as you desire based on events.

AT CED, we have chosen to work with only one control system for many reasons but the best reasons are:

It is made well, UL and CE Listed, and has proven to be dependable with years of service.
They have aligned themselves with many of the most proven companies in the business as their partners

They have and continue to demonstrate a focus of expansion within their core product groups
The products win award after award for their innovation and excellence in the standards of Automation

And who would I be speaking of? Home Automation Incorporated (HAI) of course. HAI is an outstanding company built on firm beliefs with focused products that make sense for every home built.

They develop and produce systems and components that are priced so that everyone can enjoy their benefits. The system is installed primarily through a group of nationwide trained installers and you can become the next one by taking the appropriate steps to learn and develop an understanding for this business. I do not recommend anyone install one of these systems, to make a profit, into a home before a thorough understanding and proper training are complete. In this section you will find professional products to automate a home.
